William Morris (1834–1896) was a British designer, poet, and social activist, best known for his role in the Arts and Crafts Movement, which sought to revive traditional craftsmanship in response to the industrialization of the 19th century. A multi-talented figure, Morris was an influential textile designer and founded the decorative arts firm Morris & Co., which produced intricately patterned wallpapers, textiles, and furniture. His designs often featured nature-inspired motifs and medieval themes, reflecting his belief in the unity of art and life. Morris was also a committed socialist, advocating for workers’ rights and social reform.
